SYMPOSIUM

The 11th International Conference on Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow (HTFF 2024) invites you to propose a symposium in the fields related to heat transfer, fluid flow, and energy.

The proposed symposium, if accepted, will be co-located with and under the umbrella of the conference.

Proposals by prospective chairs should be submitted to  and will be evaluated by the Organizing and Scientific Committees. Upon approval, the Organizing Committee will disseminate the news through the conference website and call for papers. To obtain a high attendance, we kindly ask that the prospective chairs also publicize the event and personally contact researchers who they think will be interested to contribute. The minimum number of registered presenters for the event to take place is 7. Should attendance reach this minimum requirement, registration fees for the Chair will be waived.

Symposium 1: Frontiers in Thermal Energy Storage

Abstract:

One of the most important futuristic goals of our society is to achieve a complete energy supply based solely on renewable, non-fossil energy sources. However, the main limitation remains their intermittent nature, which makes sources such as solar energy unavailable on cloudy days or at night, or wind energy unavailable when the wind isn’t blowing. To meet this challenge, energy storage systems are playing an increasingly important role, and various thermal energy storage systems are being introduced to store thermal energy at a design temperature depending on the end-user application. Thermal energy can be stored in different forms such as sensible heat, latent heat, or thermochemical energy, ranging from sub-zero temperatures as in the cold chain (T = -80 °C) to ultrahigh temperatures as in concentrated solar power (T = 800 °C). In this context, the main challenge is to improve their performance in terms of the share of renewables in an energy system, compactness, fast transient response, etc.
This symposium will be a collection of worthy and original studies on the following aspects of thermal energy storage systems:

  • Technologies and methods for their design;
  • Innovative modeling and simulation techniques;
  • Solutions to improve their thermal performance;
  • Applied and relevant engineering case studies.

Original papers related to the above topics as well as more generally on technologies, methodologies, numerical and experimental investigations, case studies related to thermal energy storage, are welcome.

  • Publication of 1 accepted paper in the proceedings. Publication of each additional paper requires a €250 EUR registration
  • Buffet lunch for each day of the conference
  • 2 coffee breaks for each day of the conference
  • 1 banquet dinner OR cruise tour

Important information for accompanying person(s): Please be informed that the accompanying person can NOT be a co-author.
Co-authors, regardless if 1 author is attending, must pay the full registration fee.
The accompany person fee is only for spouses and/or children. Please contact us if you are unsure.

Virtual registration fee includes the following:

  • Publication of 1 accepted paper in the proceedings. Publication of each additional paper requires a €150 EUR registration
  • Access to all the sessions of the conference
